Contact a lawyer today

Dealing with an injury, illness or legal dispute is stressful enough without having to navigate the process alone. Here’s how we make it easier.

No Win, No Fee Options

For eligible personal injury claims, you generally don’t pay our professional fees or disbursements unless your claim is successful – so cost is never a barrier to getting proper legal help.

A Team That Specialises

Every lawyer at Bowes Legal practises in personal injury and compensation law, bringing focused, in-depth experience to every claim we run.

Real People, Not a File Number

You’ll know your lawyer by name and be able to speak with them directly – your matter isn’t passed between case managers or handled by a call centre.

We Don’t Back Down

When an insurer undervalues, delays, or denies a claim, we push back – and where it’s needed, we’re ready to run the matter all the way to court.

How we can help

We act across a broad range of personal injury and compensation matters. Browse the areas below, or get in touch if you’re not sure where your situation fits – we’re happy to point you in the right direction.

WorkCover Claims

Injured at work, or travelling to or from work? A WorkCover claim can help cover your medical expenses, lost income and rehabilitation costs while you recover. We can help with:

Public Liability Claims

Been injured in a public place – a shopping centre, park, rental property, or someone else’s premises? Occupiers have a duty to keep their premises safe, and when they don’t, you may have grounds for a claim. We’ll assess your situation, explain your options clearly, and help you pursue the compensation you’re entitled to.

We can help with:
  • Slips, trips and falls in shops, venues or public spaces
  • Injuries on rental or private property
  • Dog attacks and other public incidents

Total & Permanent Disability (TPD) Claims

If illness or injury has left you unable to work, a TPD claim through your superannuation or insurance policy can provide a lump sum payment to support you and your family. The process is often complex, and claims are regularly knocked back on technical grounds – we’ll help you prepare a strong claim and fight any unfair rejection.

We can help with:
  • Reviewing your super fund and insurance policy for TPD cover
  • Preparing medical and vocational evidence to support your claim
  • Appealing a declined or disputed TPD claim
  • Coordinating a TPD claim alongside other entitlements

Most super funds include insurance you may not even know about – covering income protection, TPD, or death benefits. We’ll help you understand what cover you have, what you’re entitled to, and guide you through making a claim if you’ve been impacted by injury or illness.

We can help with:

  • Identifying insurance you didn’t know you had through your super
  • Income protection, TPD and death benefit claims
  • Disputing a superannuation trustee’s decision

Frequently Asked Questions

Making a claim can raise a lot of questions, especially if it’s your first time. Here are some of the things we’re asked most often, if yours isn’t covered, get in touch and we’ll walk you through it.

Do you offer No Win, No Fee?

Yes. Bowes Legal offers No Win, No Fee arrangements for eligible personal injury claims.

This means you generally do not pay our professional legal fees or disbursements unless your claim is successful, allowing you to access experienced legal representation without the pressure of funding legal fees upfront.

Before we begin, we will explain clearly how the arrangement works, including any costs or expenses that may apply, so you understand your position from the outset.

No surprises. No unnecessary complexity. Just clear advice about where you stand.

How much compensation could I receive?

Every personal injury claim is different, and the amount of compensation you may be entitled to will depend on the individual circumstances of your case.

Factors such as the nature and severity of your injuries, your past and future loss of income, treatment and rehabilitation needs, care requirements, the impact on your ability to work and your future prognosis can all affect the value of a claim.

We build the evidence first.

Our lawyers take the time to understand the full impact of an injury – not simply where you are today, but how that injury may affect your work, financial security, health and independence into the future.

Jane Bowes and the Bowes Legal team have a proven track record of achieving strong outcomes for injured Queenslanders, including in complex, contested and high-value claims. That comes from careful preparation, knowing where value can be lost, anticipating the insurer’s position and developing the evidence required to properly establish the true value of a claim.

We also won’t inflate expectations simply to win your business. We will tell you the truth about where your claim stands, what we believe it is worth and what needs to be done to achieve the best possible outcome.

And you don’t have to take our word for it.

I am unhappy with my lawyer. Can I change law firms?

Yes. You can change lawyers – and you do not need to stay with a firm simply because they started your claim.

In fact, taking over existing personal injury claims has become an important part of what we do at Bowes Legal.

We are regularly approached by clients whose claims have been with another firm for months — sometimes years — but have stalled, been undervalued or simply have not progressed as they should.

You are not stuck.

Bowes Legal has developed significant experience taking over difficult and complex claims, identifying what has gone wrong and developing a strategy to get the matter moving again.

In some matters, we have achieved outcomes significantly beyond offers made before the matter came to us. That does not mean every transferred claim will achieve a better result — every case is different — but it demonstrates why a fresh, experienced assessment can matter.

What about my previous lawyer’s fees?

We will review them.

Where appropriate, Bowes Legal will scrutinise the legal fees claimed by your previous firm and challenge costs we consider unreasonable or unfair.

Changing lawyers should not feel overwhelming. We handle the transfer process for you.

Once you decide to move your matter to Bowes Legal, we can deal directly with your former lawyers to arrange transfer of your file and the necessary documentation. You should not have to manage an uncomfortable conversation or negotiate the transfer yourself.

Worried your claim has gone off track?

If your matter has dragged on, communication has broken down, you are being pressured to settle, an offer does not feel right, or you have simply lost confidence in the way your claim is being handled, speak to us.

A second opinion can change the direction of a claim.

We will tell you where you stand, identify what needs to happen next and, if we take your matter on, build a strategy to move it forward.

Changing lawyers can feel like a big decision. We make the change itself the easy part.

How long will my claim take?

Every personal injury claim is different, and the time required to resolve your matter will depend on factors such as the complexity of the claim, the extent of your injuries, the evidence required and the position taken by the insurer.

But one thing we strongly believe is that claims should not drag on unnecessarily.

Bowes Legal has built a reputation for progressing matters efficiently. We work fast, stay on the front foot and make strategic decisions early — without taking shortcuts or compromising the value of a claim simply to resolve it sooner.

There is an important difference between moving quickly and rushing a claim.

We will never recommend resolving your matter before the evidence is ready or before the true impact of your injuries can be properly understood. But we also do not believe in unnecessary delay, inactivity or allowing a claim to drift.

Our approach is simple: know what needs to be done, do it early and keep the matter moving.

Experienced lawyers, strong preparation and the right strategy can make an enormous difference to how efficiently a claim progresses.

We move with purpose — because your life should not be put on hold any longer than it needs to be.

Who will run my case? Will it be a lawyer?

Yes. Your matter will be led by an experienced personal injury lawyer.

Every lawyer at Bowes Legal practises in personal injury and compensation law. Collectively, our team brings decades of experience to the claims we handle, including complex and contested matters and litigation.

We work collaboratively as a team because we believe our clients benefit from having the experience and strategic thinking of the broader firm behind them. But importantly, you will know who your lawyer is — and you will be able to speak to them.

Your claim will not simply be processed through a system or passed from person to person. The important decisions, preparation and strategy in your matter are driven by lawyers who understand personal injury law and know your case.

We believe that matters.

There can be a significant difference between simply administering a claim and knowing how to build one. Experienced lawyers know what evidence to obtain, what questions to ask, where problems may arise, how an insurer is likely to respond and when the strategy needs to change.

That experience can make a very real difference to the way a claim is prepared, negotiated and ultimately resolved.

At Bowes Legal, you don’t just have a lawyer’s name on your file. You have experienced lawyers actively building your case.
